Untreated Animal Manure
Fresh horse stable and farm animal manure.
Heaps of untreated manure can produce methane within, strong odour when moved, and attracts rats and flies.
Parasites and weed seeds can survive and be carried on to the end user. |
Portagester Collects Manure
Portagester ® is used to collect the manure and transport it back to the anaerobic digester site.
The tractor loads the feedstock, the open top of the Portagester ® is sealed with an insulated cover. Active bacteria are added, the contents are heated for pasteurisation. Weed seeds and parasites are controlled.
After two to four days of digestion, screened liquor is pumped to the second stage anaerobic digester producing methane rich biogas. |
Treated Solids
The treated solids remaining in the Portagester ® are tipped out where needed.
Deliveries have been made direct to gardens, organic vegetable and fruit growers and commercial composting sites.
Trials indicate at least a halving of the traditional composting period and a marked reduction of odour, vermin and flies. |
Soil Conditioner
After a few weeks of natural composting, the solids have broken down into a peaty like soil conditioner with slow release fertiliser.
The composting process hosts earth worms.
This material is easily screened and blended.
